Wie kan helpen met het beantwoorden van volgende vragen

Hello,

While searching information about the guns built by the Manufacture d'Armes de l'Etat in Liège I came across your nice website.
I have one question regarding the markings used by the M.A.E.:

You show a list saying that these markings all belong to manufacturers. Would you agree that only the one with a star above is civilian whereas the others are found on military arms that underwent a proof in the M.A.E.?

Furthermore, I would like to know if a full list of all arms exist that have ever been built by the M.A.E. - of course, a list of the inspectors names HD, FL, FA, JS, JD, etc. would be fine, too.

And finally, did you ever read or hear of Winchester rifles model 1873 and 1876 being manufactured by the M.A.E. to be used by the Force Publique in the Belgian Congo?

Is daar in de bib van het legermuseum niets van terug te vinden? Trouwens, hoe zit dat met de in Amerika gemaakte M1889 (Hopkins & Allen), werden deze ergens (in UK of Frankrijk) gekeurd voor het Belgisch leger ze in gebruik nam tijdens WO1 want in the US of far away A heeft men geen proefbanken zoals wij ze kennen.

Dag Wim,

Normaal gezien waren er in de US militairen die de stempels aanbrachten alvorens ze verscheept werden naar België. Dit was zo met de Colt-pistolen en zal ongetwijfeld ook gebeurd zijn met de mausers. Niet alle mausers zouden evenwel aan het leger geleverd geweest zijn. Verschillende exemplaren kwamen terecht op de private markt.
